Less Than 24 Hours Till IV!

28 04 2008

The 8th chevron is locked, the FTL drives are ready to jump to this new era of gaming. Yes GTA IV is less than 24 Hours away now and I am getting very excited. I wont get home till around 14:30 tomorrow which is a bit earlier than normal, but I still wish I could just sit at home all day and play it. I have been checking the stats of my copy as it crosses from England over to Northern Ireland on and off all day, as I type its still in the national hub but I payed for 24 Express so it will be here tomorrow.

So what version are you guys picking up? I personally am getting the special edition with the duffel bag, lock-box, art book etc, for 360 of course. Anyway I think I will go read EDGE and OXM for a bit before I go to sleep. I need to finish off the Starage novel I am reading as well. O I read Digital Fortress over the last few days, fucking great book.

Anyway that’s it, look out for more updates soon and my review of GTA IV. And for all of you getting it, have fun!

Beta, Beta, Beta

25 04 2008

Today has been beta Friday for me. So when I got home around 11:30 this morning I finally found a link to get into the Mythos Online beta. I have played it a bit so far and its just loads of fun. I am told its a lot like Diablo. It feels a bit like WoW as they both have styles that are more or less the same. But Mythos has a lot of new stuff you will not see in other MMO’s.

Possibly the best thing that happen was the email that I got to say that people could start to sign up for the Stargate Worlds Beta. There are a few problems with emails not getting back to people but props to the community guys as they have been on the forums keeping us updated. The beta is due to start very soon! Finlay at long last they got the finger out and got the Metal Gear Online beta working. I have to say its the worst beta experience I have ever been in, TBH it didn’t even feel up to the quality of a beta as the set up etc was just so wrong. The game its self is fine, nothing that big and I am glad it comes with Metal Gear Solid 4 as I would not pay for it.

General Life Update

22 04 2008

Its been a few days since I have been able to blog, sorry about that. Just have had a lot to do. Got another one or two college assignments finished up last week so its just the last big things that need doing for the end of May now. I am starting to get stuff sorted for going back next year to do a follow up HND course. Its a nice way to stay at home for another 2 years and most of my friends are doing it too.

I got an Interview for GAME comeing up this thursday so I am hopeing to get landed with a job there, so I will make a post to lest you know if  I get the job when they let me know. I have also been playing a lot of Halo 3 and COD4 multiplayer this week I really love COD4 online now its not as good as Halo but still great fun. I also played the Battlefield beta a bit more as well.

I need to do a podcast again soon I might wait now till GTA’s out which I can’t wait for less than a week now. But we will have to wait and see.

Send Off To Games for Windows The Official Magazine

8 04 2008

Being from Europe it’s very hard for me to get my hands on a copy of Games for Windows The Official Magazine. But I sure as hell will be picking up the sims 3 issue when it comes out here because it will be the last ever issue of a magazine that has run for over 27 Years.

GFW originally started as CGW (Computer Gaming World) back many years ago. But since its first issue it has delivered some of the best gaming content ever to be printed and I have great respect for all four editors of the mag. But I was very happy to hear that this is not the end of GFW. No from now on it will be focusing its work force behind online content via the wonderful website 1up.com. GFW, EGM and 1UP.com are all the same and all very respectable so this is good news for the site. I would also expect to see EGM starting to cover PC stuff from now on.

It’s great that the editors will be staying at 1UP and still working on PC stuff but let’s think for a moment about the two guys from the art team that had to be let go. I know everyone will miss them. Fellow GFW Radio fans will also be happy to read that the podcast is not going anywhere. It’s still coming out every week with the same old cast. So look out for this week’s episode for more information on this.

Anyway I just felt that I had to get my feeling across on this. These guys now play an important role on keeping PC part of 1UP.com. If all four where to quit (which they say they won’t, which is good news) the format could be forgotten about by the site. I have loads of respect for you guys and am looking forward to seeing loads of PC stuff on 1UP.com from now on.

General Update – 7 April 2008

6 04 2008

It’s just turned 00:00 and I am still awake. I have loads of work to do for the end of the month so I don’t want to leave it all to the last minute. But it’s been a good weekend played loads of Halo 3 and the Battle Field BC beta. Worked a lot on my college stuff as well. Anyway I have to look for a job at my local GAME today (well it is Monday, even if it’s really early) for over the summer. So I will call in during my break to see what’s going on. If anything interesting happens I will let you all know.

Well Spybots nearly finished and the latest OXM podcast is keeping me going so I might go to bed soon and read more of this month’s EDGE and the current Stargate book I am reading.

4 04 2008

Epic is offering up $1,000,000 for the new Make Something Unreal contest. So all you have to do is make something in unreal to enter. However there are several different categories all of which have been listed over at the official site for the competition. I am not sure what $1 M is in pounds but I am sure it’s still a hell of a lot. I think I will enter myself, I am ways working in unreal so why not. Most likely in one of the mapping categories.

So if any of you lot are interested as well head over to The Site

April Fools Stuff

1 04 2008

The staff (I am one of them) and forum users over at Xbox Elite got a major prank played on us today for April fools. A few of us knew it was a joke straight away but some people like me found it a bit strange that when we clicked on the forum button a page came up to tell us that the site would be shutting down and merging with OXM uk. You won’t fully under stand the joke unless you know our back story. But I have to hand to to Ross and Matt it was a good one.

I also thought that the flying penguins thing the BBC did was very good as well. Click here to see the video. Very well done.
